We help children, families, adults and teachers discover how good food is grown and tastes. By educating people about food and farming, we’re encouraging the food citizens of tomorrow to make healthier choices for themselves and the planet.


Stone Barns Center's high school education course empowers students to become food citizens. The program goes beyond teaching students about cooking and nutrition, using food as a portal through which to explore critical issues in science, ecology, health, culture and justice. The curriculum includes discussion-based classroom lessons, real-world applications of complex science concepts, and “Food Lab” sessions where students learn about the production and preparation of healthy, seasonal food through hands-on cooking and online video conversations with farmers and chefs.

Farm Camp
Each summer, Farm Camp brings more than 500 children to the farm to connect with nature, farmers, animals and good food straight from the land. More than 4,000 children have attended since 2004, including many through needs-based scholarships.

Teacher Training Programs
More than 300 teachers have attended our training programs or other professional development workshops at Stone Barns.



Since we opened in 2004, more than 1 million people have visited to explore the farm, attend a lecture on current issues in food and agriculture, or participate in a cooking, gardening or composting program.

On weekends, spring through fall, Stone Barns visitors experience the farm through a variety of seasonal, hands-on activities and drop-in tours, all included with the purchase of a Saturday or Sunday admission ticket.
